Why Now?

Females account for only 30% of OCR participation, and that percentage decreases in competitive and elite waves. The male elite field is bigger and thus more competitive. The top men often finish neck-in-neck and their placements fluctuate more. Sponsorships in OCR are not equal, which reflects both the gap in competitiveness between genders as well as the worldwide pay gap in sports in general. 

When asked, “What is holding you back from entering or moving up in the sport of OCR?” women most often report a lack of confidence, the sport of OCR being perceived and marketed as a “male sport,” a desire to feel more prepared, a lack of understanding of specific training for female athletes, and a desire to enter or move up with female friends. OCR is a life-changing and powerful sport and we firmly believe that it will be strengthened by a stronger female presence.

Nicole knows what it’s like to be a newcomer to the OCR world, and how frustrating it can be to master the many variables in the sport. In the last 5 years, she’s seen countless females exit the sport. Nicole asked herself, “What would have helped me when I started racing?” Sponsoring her own team of women is her answer.
